Nasa Spaceman Program Ending...?

I decided to share some interesting news I found while watching the Colbert Report just last weekend. On friday's episode he addressed a real and concerning topic that deeply effects me and others who like the thought of men in space going out to explore uncharted and unexplored worlds. Now I'm realizing from after having watching this clip that the America space-man program has gone down...

;w; I love NASA.... Don't take it away Obama! This news makes me feel sad.

Awesome Voice Tools

Have you ever been too scared to voice act...?

Think your voice isn't that cool? Ever wanted to or needed a robot voice in your youtube videos, flash animations or homemade movies?

Well now you can.

That's right. I found these very interesting link the other day. This is great for movies, animations and and anything else that you'd like to add a voice to. Just type in your desired phase into the box and pick out a section of voice actors. I prefer 'William' (US). Then you can change the pitch, tone and effect.

The effect option is really cool. With this you can let 'William' sound like an 'old-robot' to a creepy 'slit-personalty' figure --Perfect for scary movies. I enjoy this website because it's totally free and you can download the audio onto your computer. Try it out--it's loads of fun...! :)

Exsamples of Noise music

What is noise music?

Noise music is a type of music that music that has not much or no rhythm or voice. It can be distorted, either by electronically or acoustically. Static and other feedback sounds heard can be heard. Noise music is most likely done by using non-traditional types of musical instruments such as the Nintendo's 'Gameboy' video game system, as I will provide a link below to show you.

One of the more popular musical artist that does contemporary noise music is Jimi Hendrix.
He often uses volume and distortion in his alums, some examples are Nine Inch Nails, and Sonic Youth. This type of music can be used in art galleries or means as an artistic art form in it's self. There has been some criticism in the past on noise music and how annoying or bothersome it is to those listening to it. -Research gathered from Wikipedia

I'm going to show you some examples of noise music, and explain to you why I picked these partial links and how it relates to noise music and noise music performances.

PBK Live -Experimental Noise Music Live Concert Footage NY

Here we have experimental musician PBK, performing in New Paltz, New York on the 'Family Reunion Tour' in a basement. This was done in 2004. This a great example of what it sounds like. It sounds like popping and sizzling, with some electrical hums doesn't it? This isn't really music in the way of 'normal' type of music most of us are use to hearing on the radio or CD. This music or noise rather can be quite interesting after a while or bothersome- depending on you tastes.

Experimental music performance / Dulan cafe, Taitung, 2009.12.08

This video is slightly differant from PBK's preformance because they used traditional musical instruments while PBK went to using digital means. This was performed live at a cafe, so they had visitors listening to this while they ate and drank. To me, this partial sound reminded me of an ambulance and the mournful cry it makes, it almost has a sad quality to it.

Found sound in China Town:

A different approach to noise music is this video, using street noise as her sound. Although this video is quite different from “PBK Live” and the "Dulan Cafe" is still has captured the noise music. As I said earlier, you can use different type of mediums to capture sound. This woman decided to use a portable audio recording device to capture the sound and noise she wanted to while walking around China Town. This isn’t performed at a studio but for personal or online entertainment means.

Before I go, I wanted to share with you some other examples of noise music or simulator to noise music.

While doing my research I couldn't help but add these in. I hope you enjoy. :)

Musical Road

This video was seen on ABC News, and they reported that in Kora there is a 'singing highway'. Even though, this might seem off track to noise music it really isn't. Because the road isn't normally used as a musical tool, and it's one of the definitions of noise music. They used the singing to alert sleepy drivers.

Gameboy Making Music

A guy by the name of Clay Morrow created a device to allow the Nintendo's "Gameboy" video game system to make music. I won't get into the technical stuff, but that opens the doors for new noise music!

Gameboy Song

The band is called Beck's Gameboy Variations EP and there is a reason for that, because like in the other video, Beck uses a Gameboy to get these sound effects, thus giving this song a rich and sci-fi and outdated sound. The song is called “Girl” and this is a remix of that song. Enjoy.
